  Encourage Gov't Agencies to Save

  At the end of each fiscal year, every agency does a mad dash to ensure they have spent all of their funding. If they don't they are told they will lose that amount next year. Why not encourage the agencies to save where possible and let them bank the money for emergencies, new initiatives, upgrades, or new projects instead of always begging the Gov't for additional money.   At the end of each fiscal year, every agency does a mad dash to ensure they have spent all of their funding. If they don't they are told they will lose that amount next year. Why not encourage the agencies to save where possible and let them bank the money for emergencies, new initiatives, upgrades, or new projects instead of always begging the Gov't for additional money. For the next year's budget, the agency will not lose that amount but they must ensure that count that money in as "money on hand." This way, needless spending will end and we can use the extra funds where they deem necessary instead of waiting until the point of breaking.

  New Criteria for Bonus pay for military careefields

  Each year thousands of young people sign up for careers in the military just because they pay a bonus. These bonuses should be given only to those members who have completed the initial four years in that specific careerfield and then reenlists for another 4 or 6 years in that same careerfield.   Each year thousands of young people sign up for careers in the military just because they pay a bonus. These bonuses should be given only to those members who have completed the initial four years in that specific careerfield and then reenlists for another 4 or 6 years in that same careerfield. Bonus will be weighted on the criticality of the skill, the members performance reports, number of years reenlisting and other criteria mandated by that specific careerfield, i.e. language proficiency. This new criteria would provide a tested and dedicated non-commissioned corps of professionals who are in the career they WANT to be in.

  Reduce Base/Post/Naval Exchanges in CONUS

  The Exchange shops have outlived their usefulness in today's society of over abundance. These services are needed for the servicemen and women in overseas locations and rural CONUS locations. Reducing the number of Exchanges in major metropolitan cities such as San Diego, Los Angeles, San Antonio and Washington, DC significantly reduce the redundancy of military services provided at the multiple bases in those locations. ...more »

  Reduce Travel of Govt--offsites

  While in a the middle of the C&R and possible furloughs, organizations are tightening their spending belts more than ever. However, mandates/policies should be imposed to ensure taxpayers money are being spend wisely. When organizations must hold "off site" meeting for discussions, policy should impose restrictions that the travel must remain with X number miles of the duty location.   While in a the middle of the C&R and possible furloughs, organizations are tightening their spending belts more than ever. However, mandates/policies should be imposed to ensure taxpayers money are being spend wisely. When organizations must hold "off site" meeting for discussions, policy should impose restrictions that the travel must remain with X number miles of the duty location. Recently, during a "reorganization discussion" a group of leaders who duty location is in DC felt they could not make a decision, so an off-site was set up in sunny Orlando Florida. The cost of air travel, hotel rooms, and rental cars for 35 members could have been avoided is policy had restricted their off-site to with 30 miles of the DC duty location.

  Debt Reduction Fund on Yearly Tax Form

  Each year US citizens are given the option to donate to the Presidental fund; however, many feel this should occur outside of the normal government channels. My idea is to replace the portion of the tax form with a option to donate a portion of your tax return (percentage or a specific dollar amount) to reducing the national debt. This way each US citizen plays an active role in taking ownership of our expenditures ...more »

  Each year US citizens are given the option to donate to the Presidental fund; however, many feel this should occur outside of the normal government channels. My idea is to replace the portion of the tax form with a option to donate a portion of your tax return (percentage or a specific dollar amount) to reducing the national debt. This way each US citizen plays an active role in taking ownership of our expenditures and the responsibility to paying them off thus in return holding elected officials accountable to the citizens that elect them.
