If an agency audits a procurement and takes exception to a significant amount proposed--the buying command should not be allowed to ignore the findings without justifying why they are not pursuing the findings. If an agency audits a procurement and takes exception to a significant amount proposed--the buying command should not be allowed to ignore the findings without justifying why they are not pursuing the findings. Often times the command appears to give into the pressure to obtain whatever the procurment is purchasing, even while putting the Government at risk for paying too much or paying for things that are unallowable in the FAR. Stronger controls need to be implemented in this area as this is true cost savings to the taxpayer being ignored and the Government is either paying more than they should for items or paying for things that are unallowable per the regulation.
