Take Home Rides
The use of government motor vehicles as a private conveyance has really gotten out of hand. Having a “take-home ride” has become a “perk” of the position instead of a “need” of the government. The use of government motor vehicles as a private conveyance has really gotten out of hand. Having a “take-home ride” has become a “perk” of the position instead of a “need” of the government. You would think that agency heads would be more judicious in whom they allow to drive government vehicle back and forth to work. They are not. The President could simply direct his agency heads to review who is taking a government vehicle back and forth to work and for what purpose. Only allow those employees who are actually in need of a “take-home ride” have a government vehicle to take home. Just because someone is a “senior manager” and they “may” get called out after hours isn’t a worthy reason to have a take home ride. Where there exists a “real” probability of being called out after hours is a viable reason. There could be literally hundreds of thousands of dollars saved each month, not to mention annually, on reduced gasoline consumption and maintenance cost.
