Give Wellness Bonus for GS Employees
Many commercial organizations offer wellness programs for employees to maintain physical health. A more physcially healthy government workforce, would be cheaper and more effective on the taxpayers.

Not everyone can telework because their jobs require physcial or security based activities. For many of the other jobs out there though, the ones where a person sits in front of a desk all day, positions can be easily maintained and often improved with telework. I think there should be incentives for teleworking, and those who do not meet a measurable standard of success while teleworking shouldn't be allowed to. Think ...more »

Think of the money that can be saved though for not having to provide a full time place for every employee to work from.It would save money for them commuting as welll, injecting more money into the economy and reducing our independance on oil.

The more expensive that higher education becomes, the less accessible it will become to future generations, and the further the education gap will widen between the US and our foreign competitors. If we divert some of the expenditures that we have on our defense budget, and put them towards paying for students to go to college, then when the students graduate and start making in excess of a certain amount, the government will start drawing money for repayment.
The students would not repay forever, but they would repay a sufficient amount to cover part of what there costs were.

Competition breeds innovation. Soliciate for multiple teams to create money saving plans / budgets for their agencies and government in a competition. A panel of experts will evaluate and determine which ideas from the teams offer the best opportunities for the government to become more efficient and innovative. A panel of experts will evaluate and determine which ideas from the teams offer the best opportunities for the government to become more efficient and innovative.
Offer a reward, a real incentive so that people really put their hearts into the effort into this project. An insubstantial reward won't inspire the innovation neccesary.

Our world is going virtual in a very fast way. While still injecting money into our economy. We invest in our country while making it cheaper for ourselves to operate.

If we make an inferior product that costs more, where is the incentive to buy american? Not all of our products are inferior, but they have gained that reputation. When quality and pride become an important part of the american business model, we will increase our competitiveness.
We have to offer better products and services at lower costs than everyone else, otherwise we lose our competitive edge.
How do we do that, bite the bullet.
Fund the millitary less ( I was in the millitary for 8 years)
Fund Social Services more (make the poor, less poor, maslows hierarchy of needs, if people cannot meet their base needs, how can we expect to improve)
Fund Education. Make our children smarter than we are.
Tax more, if we have already have our base needs met though social services, we might be breaking even anyways.
Invest first in ourselves, then in other countries.

If we offer tax credits for Americans buying american made products we offer them a real finanical incentive to buy american and keep trade within the US. For instance I want a tax incentive for buying an american made car, or for outsourcing to a US based company.
Offer people an incentive to buy american, appeal to their wallet and their ideals.

If someone comes up with an idea that is proven to cut costs but retain the flexibility and functionality they should be offered an incentive to share this, not just the token on the spot bonus, but a real percentage in the savings that it creates. So if I come up with idea that will save our agency a large monetary amount like ten million dollars, I want 2-3 percent. It is an incentive for people to look for real cost ...more »

So if I come up with idea that will save our agency a large monetary amount like ten million dollars, I want 2-3 percent. It is an incentive for people to look for real cost cutting strategies, but it also spurs everyone to look for ways to cut costs and be more innovative.
