  Bring Military Home from Foreign Wars to work Rebuilding the US

  I know we have one of the largest most capable military of any other nation but why does that mean that we have to be out fighting other people’s battles? I feel we should bring home many of the military who are overseas fighting battles and put them to work rebuilding the US. Areas like New Orleans, poverty stricken areas (projects) and others could greatly benefit from the attention of the US military. We could have ...more »

  I know we have one of the largest most capable military of any other nation but why does that mean that we have to be out fighting other people’s battles?

  I feel we should bring home many of the military who are overseas fighting battles and put them to work rebuilding the US. Areas like New Orleans, poverty stricken areas (projects) and others could greatly benefit from the attention of the US military. We could have them rebuild communities; start implementing more of the green energy the President is trying to push, educating and assisting our people rather than others in a foreign land.

  We need to focus on the American people and America as a whole now more than ever. It would be great if the money that goes to the military could go back to our community in more than just wages.

  Close Our Borders, Put up Wall to keep Illegals Out

  I feel we should close the borders, stop allowing people in until the national debt is gone. We don't need more people coming in when we can't afford to help the ones that currently reside here. We have been cutting funding on schools, health care and other essential items for our own citizens yet continue to let more flow in.   I feel we should close the borders, stop allowing people in until the national debt is gone. We don't need more people coming in when we can't afford to help the ones that currently reside here. We have been cutting funding on schools, health care and other essential items for our own citizens yet continue to let more flow in.

  We should only accept less than half of what the normal amount is and the ones accepted should have something of great value to our country such as skills.

  On average there are about 1.8 million each year that come to the US. This needs to stop.

  They say that immigration is essential as immigrates do work that normal Americans won't...I don't know about you but I would be willing to pay twice the amount for produce if that money went to Americans who were doing the jobs versus immigrants.

  Free Spaying and Neutering for Pets - Mandatory

  When I lived in San Antonio, TX I found out that on average around 300k is spent to euthanize cats and dogs a year in SA alone....Each year, approximately 4,900,000 dogs and cats are euthanized in shelters across the United States. In the U.S. alone, approximately $2 billion in tax money is spent every year to round up, euthanize, and dispose of homeless cats and dogs. In the U.S. alone, approximately $2 billion in tax money is spent every year to round up, euthanize, and dispose of homeless cats and dogs.

  I feel there should be FREE MANDATORY spaying and neutering offered to the general public. If it is free you have no reason to not do it. If you want to breed you should be required to get a permit. If you fail to do both of these and your cat or dog has babies I feel there should be a $100 fine per pup/kit.

  At first this might be pricey but after about 5 years I could see you being able to shut down at least 25% of humane societies and other such organizations because they simply wouldn't be needed. Breeding would be monitored. The breeder would have to report how many in a litter there was. Pets would only be allowed to be bred at max twice. There wouldn't be puppy mills anymore, there wouldn't be dogs who lived their whole lives giving birth to others in a kennel. All of this could be monitored through the local humane societys which would also build some jobs and income for the humane societys when selling permits to breed or fining when it was discovered someone had illegally bred.

  Mandatory and also free would be tagging of your pet, and collar/license as well. Where I live currently that is a law. (Albuquerque, NM) and it helps with the stray problem here.

  Doing this you would also save money on the cost strays cause from disease, traffic accidents, attacks and environmental contamination from the carcasses. This would also help preserve wildlife such as birds that feral cats kill.

  Cancel the standard 40 hour work week. Change to 20 hours/less

  The eight-hour day was realized for many working people in the U.S. in 1938, when the Fair Labor Standards Act (29 U.S. Code Chapter 8) under the New Deal made it a legal day's work throughout the nation. Most people honestly don't need to work 40 hours a week. Its a proven fact that most employee's only work 2/4 hours a day of actual work while the rest is spent surfing the web.   Most people honestly don't need to work 40 hours a week. Its a proven fact that most employee's only work 2/4 hours a day of actual work while the rest is spent surfing the web. I don't think we should really have a set mandatory work week I believe that we should have goals clearly set out/tasks that need to be completed and in a certain way.

  Everyone works at a different pace and different level. If we allowed people to work hard to finish a project at their own pace but required that it be done at a very highly professional level (ie work that was crappy or not very well thought through would be made to be redone) we could cut time a employee spends in a facility in half.

  Pay by project/goal completed, not time spent staring at nothing.

  This would force people to continue coming up with innovative ways to get typical tasks done in a faster way.

  It would also save on energy/electricty for the building they use/equipment and other.

  I also think this would increase a employee's satisfaction with their work, what they accomplish, and life in general because with everything going on (ie work, college, kids, spouse, social life) its very hard to keep up when you have a mandatory 40 hours of your life dedicated to work.

  This would ensure that work actually gets completed too. I know too many feds who just come in, clock in, sit and watch youtube all day and don't complete anything and they get paid to do it.

  Of course I do realise that there would have to be some occupations that require the 40 hour such as super markets, gas stations, banks, places that need to be open to the general public for certain amounts of time. However that would increase the desire to go to college and continue education so that you can get a job that doesn't require the 40 hours a week. Those jobs that required the 40 hours would go to high school and college kids, and people who have no desire to advance.

  Employee, Equipment and Funds Waste

  Since my employment working for the government I have worked for the DOD and DOE. Both don’t change very much at all in the issues I see. They are as follows: • Lazy, unproductive, expensive federal employees that are IMPOSSIBLE to get rid of. • Spending money that SHOULD be given back to the Treasury. • Over spending on things that sit on shelves for years with no use and then get thrown out.   Since my employment working for the government I have worked for the DOD and DOE. Both don’t change very much at all in the issues I see. They are as follows:

  • Lazy, unproductive, expensive federal employees that are IMPOSSIBLE to get rid of.

  • Spending money that SHOULD be given back to the Treasury.

  • Over spending on things that sit on shelves for years with no use and then get thrown out.

  In the government world contractors are hired to do most of the work because the federal employees are too hard to get rid of and too lazy to do the work required of them. In my old office they refused to take on anything addition, spent hours browsing the internet, went out to eat during work hours and charged it, and just kept the old processes in place ensuring that the work would continue to be slow and not get done in a faster way. At my current job I have gotten reprimanded for doing work too quickly and efficiently and making processes ten times faster. It is horrible. The whole ‘job’ security thing is all they think about. In reality if we had hard workers or paid the workers based on the work they accomplished we wouldn’t need half the people we have, there simply isn’t enough work to go around, to be extremely blunt. And it’s no wonder that anything concerning the government takes forever to get done with workers like this. We really need some new reforms on firing lazy abusive workers or paying workers based on work completed.

  At the end of the year I have heard over and over again the issue with extra funds that need to quickly be spent so they don’t lose the same funding next year. What’s with that???? A unit should not be penalized for giving BACK money to the treasury they should be rewarded and should get the same budget next year. I don’t know who came up with that bright idea….but I can tell you I’ve seen first hand over and over how much waste of money it makes.

  I worked in a warehouse at one point and we would spend money at the slightest whim. Infact we were told that if we needed any money just ask because they had just bought a 200k piece of equipment that wasn’t heavily needed and because they had the funds they went ahead and bought a second….I can tell you I first hand know what happens to that equipment. It gets smashed up and thrown out. I don’t know how many items I have been told to destroy that was brand new in the box because it was no longer ‘usable’. There is a huge amount of waste in the government when it comes to that. While organizing the warehouse that hadn’t been organized in five years I found so much brand new things that we didn’t even have the slightest idea we had.

  All of these three things could save the government huge money. I propose making new job positions that work at fixing these issues and eliminating all the waste of employee, equipment and funds. Federal employees should have just as much to fear about losing their job as a contractor does if he doesn’t work.
