  National Recycling Program

  Create a branch of the EPA to roll out a national recycling program for metals, plastics, batteries, used oil, glass, paper, and cardboard. If there were deposits on all drink containers that were recycleable, then much more would be recycled as they are in British Columbia, Canada.   Create a branch of the EPA to roll out a national recycling program for metals, plastics, batteries, used oil, glass, paper, and cardboard.

  If there were deposits on all drink containers that were recycleable, then much more would be recycled as they are in British Columbia, Canada. This also cuts down on the litter one sees along our highways and waterways.

  Imagine the energy savings and reduced impact on our environment if we recycled even half of what can be.

  We're concerned about 90% of the exotic metals used in motors, magnets, and batteries being controlled by China, yet we have no program in place to recycle what we already consume.

  Oh, and as one with program management experience, I apply for the position to get it started.

  Politician Pay for Performance

  Many are clamouring for pay for performance for federal employees. How about the 641 members of the house and senate who make an average of $174,000 per year while being out of Washington for 15 weeks a year. I propose that their pay be reduced to $65,000 per annum until the deficit is under $50,000,000 and the debt is less than $2B.   Many are clamouring for pay for performance for federal employees. How about the 641 members of the house and senate who make an average of $174,000 per year while being out of Washington for 15 weeks a year.

  I propose that their pay be reduced to $65,000 per annum until the deficit is under $50,000,000 and the debt is less than $2B.

  If they are late with a budget, i.e. it is not passed by October 1st, then they don't leave Washington until they've done their job and passed one that reduces the deficit by at lease 30% each year.

  Military Sponsorship of Sports/Racecars

  End the spending of millions of tax dollars sponsoring sports and racecar events. We don't have the money.

  National Building Code for Solar Power/Water Useage

  Create a National Building Code that mandates the use of solar panels in new construction in areas of the country where the sun shines 200 days of the year or more. Each building would be required to have a percentage of the roof covered with solar panels that feed into the grid. For water, mandate the use of low flush toilets and other water saving devices. As well, mandate that at least 75% of all materials be manufactured ...more »
