Postage Stamps
All government postage stamps shoud have the words "For official government business only" on the stamp. This would save money by having fewer stamps used for private mail.

In our agency poeple are hired that live hundres of miles from where the new job is and then they do not move closer to where they work. They are not renting a room closer either, just expected to get per diem everyday and living at hotels at the governments expense. The jobs here do require alot of travel, but to take a job and then expect to be in travel status all the time is just wrong. No one wants to do the jobs that are local to our office because then they will not be getting travel allowances.

Combine all payrool systems into one. This would save money by less programs needing to be created and or maintained. My agency still uses the paper form OPM71 for leave requests.

Everyone purchasing supplies for the government should have to buy American made supplies. It would porbably cost more but, it would give more American companies opportunities. This would lead to more jobs for Americans and then possibly more exports.

MSHA field offices on a daily basis mail reports into district offices and could save considerable shipping money and trees by purchasing adequate scanners to scan reports in. Then reports could be emailed or put onto a shared drive. Many of the reports are several hundred pages long and the pages come from multiple sources so a PDF file would not work easily for this.

Travel distance for local travel should be increased to 60 miles from 50 miles and the distance should be enforced.

And that is just in one agency, one distrcit, one week. When you multiply that by 52 weeks that's $145,600, and we ...more »

When you multiply that out across the whole government, you are talking about millions of dollars just by not allowing travelers to cliam the $7 for a meal that is being provided to them anyway.
