Perform a review and appraisal of government property for auction. Recently my organization sold over $10,000 worth of equipment for $200. This should never happen. Who is responsible for determining that the government is getting a good price for these items? Some government offices have items and paintings that may be valuable and classified as antiques. Flag all GOV Trips travel in excess of $6,000 annually and review for possible cost savings. Reviewing of these expenses will point out ineffective management and preferential treatment of certain employees. Most travel is allocated based on non business related decisions. By performing an independent flagging and review this can be determined and cost of travel can be reduced.

Also allow staff members to voluteer to work at facilities close to home. This will also reduce the ...more »
