Since this website will probably go away. I created another one so that "We the people" can keep these great ideas coming.
Feel free to send the link to anyone and not just government employees. I plan on keeping it up indefinitely!

Our current president is making $400,000 per year and our national debt is more than it's ever been.
I propose that we cut president, vice president, congress, house, senate...etc. salaries by 50% and put the rest towards the national debt. They can start receiving more pay after the national debt starts going down.

I've been reading a lot of postings on saving money in federal prisons. My question is why are we wasting money on prison facilities anyways? Why not just make all prisons tent cities like Joe Arpaio implemented in Arizona. The soldiers serving our country sleep in tents while deployed for months at a time. Why can't prison inmates? Maybe they won't want to come back... Here's an example already being implemented ...more »

Require that facilities use 10% of year end "waste" I mean "funds" be used to purchase solar or wind energy products for facilities. Soon government facilities will have no electric bill. 1. PRESENT METHOD – Currently fuel is dumped by KC-135s, KC-10s and other Air Force aircraft due to landing heavy weight or mission changes. These aircraft dump hundreds of thousands of gallons on a yearly basis.
2. PROPOSED METHOD – I can understand dumping fuel due to an emergency, but because of a mission change this is unacceptable. Instead of dumping this fuel in order to be able to land, change the policy so that a training mission can be accomplished or have other specific missions on standby that can be used in a scenario that would normally require dumping fuel. For example a KC-135 takes off from McConnel AFB and is headed to Mildenhall AFB. 40 minutes into their flight they are told that they are no longer needed at Mildenhall or there is a delay of some sort. Now this KC-135 still has a ton of fuel and is unable to land due to its current weight. I propose that TACC contact the pilot and see how much fuel until they can land. Have TACC ask the pilot and navigator how far they can fly currently. Now have TACC generate a mission for this KC-135 somewhere within this radius given so that this fuel can be put to use versus dumping it into the air.
3. EXPECTED BENEFITS – Not allowing the dumping of fuel except for in emergency situations will save millions across the DOD. Not to mention the environmental effects it will save.

2. PROPOSED METHOD – I propose that the U.S. Air Force go to an electronic cloud system. This would include just a small box of which the monitor or multiple monitors would plug into. This box would be connected to the cloud. The cloud is basically a server farm that all user data would be saved to. This method would allow users to log into the cloud on any system in the Air Force and all of their files, e-mails, documents…etc. would be there. It would also allow for home use login via CAC card through a secure server to allow work from home after hours if need be.
3. EXPECTED BENEFITS – The benefits of this idea are endless. The savings are unlimited there would no longer need to be desktop towers. Hardware and software could be regulated for each user. Billions would be saved with no longer needing to upgrade desktop computers. The amount of time that would be saved is limitless. Work on non-classified material could be done from anywhere in the world. Specific applications or software that is only installed on one computer wouldn’t apply anymore and the amount of man hours saved on having to update each desktop computer to include, hard drives, software, RAM, video output, CDROM, DVD…etc. would no longer need to be done. The civilian sector is already doing this and saving billions here is a link to read more…

We receive publications for all 50 states and we normally only fly to about 10 states on a regular basis. This means the other 80% of paper is a complete waste. We also fly to overseas locations and receive publications for these locations as well, but rarely ever fly to these locations.
2. PROPOSED METHOD – I submit that we go completely digital with flying publications. The iPad 2 would be a great use of resources as it would pay for itself in a few short months. As malfunctions occur fairly regularly in aviation the iPad 2 also includes two high definition cameras that could record any malfunctions to show to maintenance personnel on the ground. Not only could flying publications be stored for every state and country in the world, it would be super light to carry to the aircraft and save on weight and fuel consumption. Using the iPad 2 the pilot could also upload all AFIs, T.O.s, weather, notams, TOLD (takeoff and landing data), flight plan…etc. The list is endless to the amount of saved time and money this would help the Air Force and other sister services in the aviation arena.
3. EXPECTED BENEFITS – The expected benefits of purchasing the iPad 2 for electronic flight publications is limitless and the savings is well beyond what can be calculated. If I had to put a number on how much could be saved per year I would estimate approximately $475 Million in saved money, time and resources.

The aircraft is descended to a low vectoring altitude and the power setting for the aircraft is set at a higher power setting to maintain a proposed vectoring speed recommended by the aircrafts T.O.
(2) PROPOSED METHOD:
I’m proposing that we implement a high altitude idle descent approach, which would allow an aircraft to stay at idle from the high altitude environment all the way until landing. This idle descent profile would be aircraft specific and base specific.
(3) EXPECTED BENEFITS:
Based on FY05 data the Air Force spent $4.2 billion on petroleum. Using these numbers the Air Force alone could save approximately $87.36 million by using an idle descent profile. This is already being implemented in civilian aviation and saving billions. Why not the U.S. Military?
