For instance the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Ducks Unlimited, California Deer Association, Trout Unlimited, National Wild Turkey Federation. These groups can assist in helping in fuel reduction, rehabilition, tree planting, wildlife surveys and reporting. I know we do this to a degree, but reaching out and doing it more would be beneficial to everyone and reduce our costs.

If we had better benefits ie Vision and Dental as well as more options to invest TSP quality people wouldn't be so quick to leave the organization. Retention would be up and the cost of training new people would be down.

Our military men and women know how to get things done. They are taught honor and responsibility and have the ability to perform at a high level. The military instills a sense of national pride that seems to be lost now. This will also eliminate or help some of those perennial political families and those that strive for office for their own benenfit.

We are instituting programs nationally ie Travel Management Plan and have to follow certain criteria specifically. Northern California has different problems or areas of concern than southern California, let alone other States. As such my district's varies from my Forest. We need to be allowed options or adjustments to certain programs rather than being forced to adopt and implement these blanket policies.

If a person wants to switch disciplines that should be encouraged. They already have experience in the Govt. as well as being fully entrenched in the system. There should be a way to get them trained if they wish to switch departments.

If members fail to do their job, ie budget, make it to sessions, work etc they should NOT be allowed to claim that year as a year served. In the Ntl. Guard if you do not get enough points for that year, it does not count as a good year for retirement. Congress should be forced to perform or suffer a bad year. These dems in Minnesota who are AWOL from voting should be fired!

We are turning in our vehicles every few years and buying new ones. If the odometer reads 30,000 miles it is time for a new one. That is just wrong. With proper maintenance those new vehicles should last well past 100, 000 miles. If they don't then something is wrong! Just think of the savings! One vehicle for 5-10 years instead of 2,3,or 4! And why not recycle them, if a forest, district does get rid of one and ...more »

This is an out dated method used to spend more money on items than we need. Not only are the prices nearly a third more than in the private sector (or more), but the waste of time it takes to go through the ordering system is ridiculous. Today you can find anything you want FAST and use competitive retailers. Allow us to go where we want to get what we want!

Make them have to work for 20 or 30 years like the rest of us. What is this 5 year thing? That is ridiculous. In 5 years what have they really done?

Get rid of the current hiring process and allow local units to hire by virtue of the applications and resumes themselves. The process is convoluted and takes up way too much time by too many people. Simplify it.

At the unit level we used to have our own mechanics and they were allowed to work on our vehicles, now we have to send them to repair shops and non gov. mechanics. Not only are we paying more to get things fixed, it takes longer for it to be done. Get the mechanics back! They can still send the vehicles to contracted businesses if it is something they cannot handle.
