One of the biggest resources in America, and one of the cheapest, is college students and recent graduates. Students coming out of school have the capabilities and the training to perform tasks in quicker and more efficient manners, leave school with the most up-to-date knowledge in a broad range of subjects, and general speed by older generations when it comes to technological hurdles. Reaching out to local institutions through paid and unpaid internships can provide an invaluable resource to offices and, if done right, can pave a path to encourage younger workers to enter the federal workforce (which is its own unique challenge for recent college graduates – and an entirely different issue.)
