  Telework - Require telework every other week

  By requiring telework every other week, employees are able to share office space, computers, relieve traffic congestion, provide relief to employees due to increased gas and food prices, and relieve long commutes providing better quality of life for empoyees.   OPM Background checks...

  Since all Fedral Workers fall under OPM, why when switching to another Federal Job does one have to have another complete background check before being hired? Why can't the background check you had for one Fed Job follow you to another Fed Job?

  Reduce/eliminate mid-management positions

  There are too many mid-level management positions, especially in agencies in which the work-force is primarily highly trained professionals.   There are too many mid-level management positions, especially in agencies in which the work-force is primarily highly trained professionals. The layers of management and supervision are too often resistant to innovation and increase costs by perpetuating inefficiencies and blocking primary workforce initiative. Increased efficiency and satisfaction, both external and internal, can be realized by models of professional management and supervision that recognize workforce competencies, grant greater responsibilities, and allow for independent initiative while retaining appropriate accountability.

  Stop moving the military!

  What is the point of moving the military members every three to four years? If someone wants to stay in an area, let them. It will save a huge amount of money AND time (i.e. training time, checking in, etc.). If people want to move, switch them one for one. Otherwise, let people stay where they are!

  Computer literacy

  Set a government-wide standard for computer literacy and require every employee of all Agencies and Departments to meet the standard.

  Smoking at Veterans administration medical centers

  Mandate "no smoking" at VA Medical Centers.

  Cost savings: heating and maintaining smoke shaks. Reducing health costs.

  Unproductive employees

  Develop a quick and effective method for getting rid of unproductive employees! Management tries all sort of solutions to help employees, but some can't or don't want to be helped. Management just end up ignoring the problem employee (for years) and finding some spot to bury them.

  Let's Move... A Healthier Federal Gov't

  Michelle Obama's initiative for getting young people across the US outside and excited about exercise has been inspiring. It's time Federal Workers got inspired to exercise and "move" too. Having a healthier workforce will lower overall healthcare costs and set an example for the rest of American taxpayers. Adding bike lanes in DC and around the country, having accomodations for bike-commuters/runners, and encouraging ...more »

  It's time Federal Workers got inspired to exercise and "move" too. Having a healthier workforce will lower overall healthcare costs and set an example for the rest of American taxpayers. Adding bike lanes in DC and around the country, having accomodations for bike-commuters/runners, and encouraging employees to take a 15 minute walk at lunch will make a big difference.
