consolidation of governmental automated systems

I agree to have my idea, not my name or information, posted online.:
Yes

Federal agencies should be utilizing the same automated systems for certain administrative processes. For example, personnel actions. There are several different systems used throughout the government for HR related matters. The IRS uses HRConnect, USDA uses EmpowerHR, etc. It would be more cost effective to have all agencies utilize one system for position management, and personnel and payroll actions. Other systems that should be standardized accross agencies are travel reimbursement systems, procurement systems and time and attendance systems. Instead of having several different contractors developing and maintaining these functions in different agencies we would have one, the savings would be enormous

  1. I agree and I would go a step further that all Federal Agencies should use the same timesheet product, share VoIP Servers, and when capable other resources.

For example Kronos is a very good timesheet system used in the Civilian Sector.

  2. While we're at it, consolidate the help desks for those shared systems.
