Unlimited e-mail storage

I agree to have my idea, not my name or information, posted online.:
Yes

Make all US government e-mail boxes have unlimited storage capacity. (Stored on a cloud system meaning it can be accessed from any government computer!)

This would save countless dollars on the time saved in deleting, saving, moving...etc.

Perspective:

So Google can offer 7.6GB of e-mail storage for the Billions of users it handles, but the US government can't offer more than 30MB for the mere millions it handles?

Below are a few more ideas I you might be interested in. Please feel free to vote or comment with your thoughts. I would love to get some constructive feedback.

Thanks,

Tony<><

  1. I agree. Moving from one post to another I loose all my email unless I back it up into an archive that usually just disappears also.

Agreed. You have to carry an external hard drive with you everywhere since USBs are no longer an option.

  3. A multi-year history (displayed via e-mails, for ex) can give an effective longitudinal "story" of govt-funded initiatives, from programmatic, fiscal, and performance evaluation perspectives.

Yes. Larger e-mail storage would be better! One would be able to look back on previous e-mails and work statistics to see what could be improved.

  5. Virtual Work Environments (VWEs) can solve this issue and when we move to the next version, we will be able to maintain .pst files on the sites which will allow for transfers without any hassles referred to above. Also, as we move to this capability, we can do away with hugh amounts of infrastructures (personnel, facilities, etc) that were dedicated to performing the functions of restoring capabilities each time some person had to relocate.

  6. One point, external hard drives are still USB connected devices and should fall into the same category as USB thumb drives - BIG NO NO!!! The larger the storage capacity, the larger the malicious files that could be contained therein.

  7. At DHS, each office is charged $24,000 per mailbox and limited to less than 1 gigabyte while Microsoft offers 5 gigabytes for free. There should a regulation that all government contracts are equivalent to private sector in cost and effectiveness at the lest cost and highest efficiency.
