Revamping the Government Agencies Budget Process

Millions of dollars wasted because excess funds allocated not rolled over into the next fiscal year projections. Government Departments at the fiscal year end goes into a spending rampage to rid expenditures funds not utilized. Revamp the national budget system and independent audit of government accounts to rid this poor and wasteful habit. Rid this practice of penalizing Agencies for having excess funds left over and roll those dollars over into the upcoming fiscal year allocation, reward those agencies with excess funds by allowing them keep their current budget level and for saving the government millions of dollars. Establish a rigorous budget oversight of quarterly independent audit of the government’s financial transactions "to determine the efficiency which financial affairs of federal agencies are managed.

  1. I agree. This was the same idea I came on to suggest. Fiscal year end spending appears to be the number one cause of government fraud waste and abuse of American Tax dollars. the suggestion of rolling-over the residual balances is a good idea, but I would suggest a reinvest in America Campaign in which unused money could be reinvested into the government to pay off the defficit while at the same time those agencies that didn't used the money are allowed to maintain their current budget. The fear of loosing nexts years budget is the reason why this program has not yet worked, but if you can convince organizations that their budgets will remain intact you can, in turn, reinvest in our future as a whole. I also support the stated idea of tightening/creating a better budgetary oversight organization to help stream line government spending.

  2. This is the exact reason I joined this site. I am annoyed year after year of brand new office furniture and computers/monitors being purchased right before the end of the fiscal year. Most of the time it replaces perfectly good and functional equipment.

I would like to add one thing to go along with the oversight of spending. An oversight on the excessing of equipment from organizations would help to limit wasteful buying. If the equipment is not broken or horribly outdated, it should not be replaced.
