Restructure the Hiring Process

I agree to have my idea, not my name or information, posted online.:
Yes

The current hiring process encourages job seekers to embellish their qualifications or even outright lie in order to get a golden ticket from the scoring system. Rather than subjectively evaluating a person's qualifications and potential, an objective scoring system tends to throw out potential gems that might otherwise have been valuable assets. Overhaul this broken system and start attracting, hiring, and retaining the leaders of tomorrow.

  1. As a contractor, I opted to apply for contract positions instead of Federal ones because I was unwilling to lie about my qualifications just so that I would be considered for a position which I was qualified. Many qualified candidates decide to use their time wisely and apply for jobs in which the process is more streamlined and transparent (there is no way to follow up on your applications either).

  2. let's remove redundant antiquated regulations and seek the best for every position. Best being defined by actual skills. Train OHR staff how to read and interpret resumes and train hiring managers how to interview!!

  3. Once an employee has RETIRED from the Gov't they shouldn't be REHIRED. They have elected to take a package offered so they should go and don't look back. They return under the CONTRACTOR program which I think is even at a higher pay scale to I think they shouldn't be rehired.

  4. Agree the the current hiring process needs to be revised. Currently the Government matches the salary that the person was making outside in the private sector because the younger men and women were not coming to the Government -- more money was made in Private Sector. Now that the economy has "Gone Sour" -- people losing their jobs. They are rushing to the Government to get the high pay + all the Government Benefits. There's no need for the Government to continue to match the Private Sector salary during this economy crisis time. Years ago when a college graduate started in the Government the starting grade would be GS-7 will potential to move up to higher salary now when one enters the Government they are starting close to $100 thousand dollars or more.
