Require 62 year olds to have more than 5 years of service

I agree to have my idea, not my name or information, posted online.:
Yes

If you are 60, you need to have 20 years of service. If you're just two years old, you only need 5 years of service. Why is there such a huge disparity between 60 and 62? If someone retires at 60 and works 20 years, they get the same FEHB retirement benefits as someone who retired 2 years older and only worked for 5 years. It seems like 62 year olds should have at least 10 years of federal service to get full retirement benefits.

  1. I agree. The FERS pension for an employee with 5 years of service isn't costly to taxpayers, but the FEHB coverage is very expensive!

  2. Agreed! It happened, I think because the laws are made by old people to serve old peoples interest, not on logic on what's fair and best for the taxpayer and federal sustainability.
