Reform Fed Hiring Practices

I agree to have my idea, not my name or information, posted online.:
Yes

The Fed needs to reform hiring practices for gov employees. They need to hire the most qualified candidates and remove preferences for vet/ethnicity/sex. If they continue to hire people for any other reason than those people being the most qualified, they will get what they seek.

Preference for certain groups should come in the form of recruitment and application support, not additional points that may knock more qualified candidates out of the running for a position.

  2. Employees should not be starting at the Top Level just because they have a degree just coming out of College. Years ago, if you had a degree just graduating from college you started at GS-7 then moving up the ladder. Now the new hirees are coming in at the Top close to $100,000 or more. Trying to compete with Private Sector "use-to-be" wages. Now that the private sector jobs have gone "sour". It's time for the Federal Government go back to hiring "GS-7's" directly out of College with a chance of moving up the ladder. Plus the benefits and security in their job. That's what everyone is looking for today.
