In the private sector, many companies achieve significant cost savings by reducing the frequency of payroll from weekly or bi-weekly to semi-monthly or even monthly. Agencies within the government differ as to pay frequency, but eliminating weekly and bi-weekly payrolls at the agencies that still have them would likely achieve similar cost savings.
