  1. Whats wrong with the satisfaction of coming up with a good idea? Sheesh, everybody wants a cookie for finishing their vegetables.

  2. The satisfaction of having a good idea doesn't feed your children... If you want ideas from managers that sit on the computer 4 hours a day, and make six figures, this will work. If you want ideas from people that actually work for a living and know how to solve problems... You give them cookie money.

  3. If we add money to it, it will end up getting corrupted. The "winning idea" will belong to a friend of someone at the top. Like when they hand out monetary awards and only the bosses friends get them year after year.

  4. With this type of system, where ideas are voted on by a relatively large sample of government employees, it would be difficult to sneak your friends in. Also note, that I didn't say anything about a winning idea... I said, any idea, that gets implemented, and saves the government at least one million dollars, deserves a lofty cash award. Even if some of the ideas aren't that innovative, if they save a million dollars... they're worth 10k.

  5. I'm just glad to provide my ideas and change the way things are carried out. About 5 years back or even as recently as 3 years back I did not have a medium to voice my ideas so I did not bother to think or provide suggestions. It is a matter of perspective - monetary rewards or satisfaction at being able to express an idea. Your choice.

  6. I am happy to share my ideas as well. Some people aren't, they're lazy, and they do things for incentives. I'm not saying it's the right way to look at things... but to ignore that the perspective exists seems foolish, we see people like this all the time.

If one person with a good idea, who otherwise wouldn't have shared it, chooses to because of a financial incentives... Then the 10k easily pays for itself. Also, it's not so much a question of whether or not you gain self respect, or confidence from having a great idea... It's a question of... Does our government still respect good ideas? Do we still think ideas are worth something in this country? Or are we all supposed to be slaves, that just do everything for the benefit of others... If we choose not to incentivize good behavior, and we choose not to penalize bad behavior, it will not be long before there are very few good people left.
