The US spends a lot of money keeping peace.
There should be a global peace keeping fund that could be used for "Wars run by committees" that could save the US a lot of money. We could still man the missions, but the expense would be shared by UN counties.
The majority of the U.N.'s budget is already furnished by the U.S. Unfortunately, this would not save us any money.
Every country needs to contribute...Good idea.
Its about time the financial burden of the world we protect is shared by all.
Sorry, but there are too many problems with this proposal. It's way too political, and financially it would not benefit the U.S. If there were a peacekeeping budget, how would it be spent? By paying each nation that gets into the action? Could it be used to contract private forces? Overall, there would be some intangible benefits, but no real financial benefits, and it would create a lot of new problems.

How would this not save the US money. We foot the entire bill. We could still accomplish our directives because we would head the operations, but, the expense would be shared.
Not only UN but all multilateral, plurilateral and regional bodies that can issue mandates should be used to get other countries to pay for troops/weapons used for international conflicts abroad.
