We get 80 year olds in congress voting on tech they've never used and don't understand. We have the "no child left behind" act which very few teachers and school officials supported or thought was a good idea. We have e-voting which didn't survive a month of testing by outside tech experts.
There are psychotic, cave-dwelling experts for just about everything you can imagine. These experts or people who can translate for them should be tapped as resources BEFORE these bone-head decisions are made.
Instead of just listening to lobbyists, maybe congress should be mandated to give equal time to an opposing organization. Each organization sends their best represenative: A "battle of champions" so to speak.
And each meeting of congress people or the president with industry or lobbyists should be documented for public review so we can see if their decisions are more or less likely coming from a balanced view.
