Eliminate Distribution of GOVT Calendars

I agree to have my idea, not my name or information, posted online.:
Yes

Eliminate the issuance and distribution of the 3-month wall display gov calendars and any other govt printed and distributed calendars. Simply print from agency websites or distributed as attachment by e-mail. Ridiculous to waste printing, postage, handling, mailings through channels. Also, most agency forms should be printed from links and not ordered and mailed to offices!

  1. If all these overpaid government workers used MS Outlook's calendar we would not need paper ones! Go electronic, drop the paper and move on!

Great idea for posted calendars in offices (on walls). Just pull up the document and print it. Good idea rather than the GAO Printing office printing them and mailing them out.

  3. The U.S. Gov't borrows 4 billion dollars a day just to keep the lights on. We're way beyond the cost of calendars that I actually look forward to receiving every other year. If we start with 25% across-the-board cuts in the annual 1.5 trillion dollar deficit, then if the calendars don't survive, I can live with that.

Save anyway we can. The cost of such calendars the Printing Office prints is 77 cents each. Then consider the storage, distribution, handling, shipping, postage, etc. multiplied by the hundreds of agencies and users, this idea is great and would save millions over the next number of years.

  5. I would have to agree with the elimination of government calendars. Also everywhere I have worked a large stash of government calendars collecting dust can be found in some back room. Those calendars are a big waste of money. Microsoft outlook calendar can be used.

  6. Are you referring to the 3 month wall calendars and/or the the desk blotter type calendars with UNICOR listed in the lower left hand corner?

Yes, eliminate the 3-month display calendars which we must order each year, govt pays for printing/packaging/storage/shipping while it would be too simply for the Government Printing Office to make them available on their website or each agency can simply e-mail an attachment to all their constituents around November each year. All federal employees could simply print the attachment available to them.

  8. I was going say, you all don't get them for free, someone in your office "orders them" through our local base ServMart. Same here, but it is not mandatory that every office has them. I only order what the person in the office wants, so there aren't any leftovers collecting dust in a closet. Sometimes I have 14 desk calendars and in that same group only 9 want the 3 month wall calendar. We only "buy" what we "need"...no leftovers, because that is wasteful.
